Many people around the world celebrate the day of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the Friday before Easter Sunday. This is a festival that involves fasting and prayer. Many church services are held in the afternoon, usually during the day or at noon until 3pm, to commemorate the hours when Jesus hung on the cross. Many churches also celebrate this day by redesigning the procession of the cross according to the tradition of the Stations of the Cross, which marks the last hours of Jesus’ life. Procedures are performed in many countries such as India, Italy, Malta, the Philippines, and Spain.
The often handmade Kites were taken to Bermuda on Good Friday to commemorate the cross on which Jesus died, as well as his ascension. This practice dates back to the 19th century. Churches in countries such as Belgium and Mexico, dressed in black on Good Friday in remembrance of Jesus’ suffering on the cross.
