Many people around the world celebrate the day of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the Friday before Easter Sunday. This is a festival that involves fasting and prayer. The often handmade Kites were taken to Bermuda on Good Friday to commemorate the cross on which Jesus died, as well as his ascension. This practice dates back to the 19th century. Churches in countries such as Belgium and Mexico, dressed in black on Good Friday in remembrance of Jesus’ suffering on the cross.
